Somewhere back in something like 2010, I wandered into a show to check out a new (to me) project of Bob Nanna's. He was playing pretty music with a pretty girl and I never could've imagined that in a few short years we'd be shooting their pretty wedding. But I'm so stoked we did.
Their mornings started together/separately at the Acme Hotel in Chicago. Lauren's room was brimming with kimono-laden bridesmaids double checking speeches and faces and dresses. Down the hall, Bob's room was filled with disappointed Bears fans hating the Bills.
After the sweetest first look, we headed to Logan Bar, a bar that Lauren manages and Bob often DJs. Lauren (with the help of her loving coworkers and Flowers for Dreams) had already transformed the cozy and airy brick and cement space into the prettiest Chicago wedding venue I've ever seen.
The ceremony was intimate and had no shortage of love, tears, and promises to always write songs for each other (fulfilled on the spot). When it ended, they were were greeted by a bar full of people who love them a lot, a killer DJ, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and a party that lasted longer than we even know.
The next morning we did something that we hadn't ever done, but totally hope to do again. We shot a quick morning after session for the newlyweds. No makeup. No major plans for the day. It was simple and it was perfect.
